COM-B model
What is the COM-B Model?
Hey there! Let me explain the COM-B model in a simple way. Imagine you're trying to form a new habit, like brushing your teeth every night before bed.
COM-B stands for three important things that help us change our behavior:
Capability (C)
This is about whether you CAN do something. It's like knowing HOW to brush your teeth and having the strength to do it.
Opportunity (O)
This is about having the CHANCE to do something. Like having a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a bathroom available when you need them.
Motivation (M)
This is about WANTING to do something. Like understanding why clean teeth are important and feeling good about having fresh breath.
The 'B' stands for Behavior - the thing you want to do or change!
If any of these parts is missing, it becomes harder to do the behavior. For example, if you know how to brush your teeth (Capability) and want to do it (Motivation), but you forgot your toothbrush at home (no Opportunity), you won't be able to brush your teeth!
